I was very impressed with the enthusiasm and hard work from the children so far this term . They are settling well and are becoming more independent. They have begun to understand what they can do to become more confident learners.
We will be reading lots of text this term, which I hope the children will share with you. We look forward to seeing you at our 'read together' sessions.
In English we will continue to consolidate our phonic knowledge by applying, blending and segmenting to enhance our reading and writing skills. Along side learning high frequency words we will develop our communication and language skills, through oral story telling, story re-invention and roleplay.
In Mathematics, we will be focussing our knowledge of numbers 1 to 20, whilst continuing to explore a method to count, order and recognise these numerals..
In PE we will be focussing on how to use a range of equipment to develop our throwing and catching skills. We will continue to independently dress and undress ourselves. Exploring different ways to move through and use the climbing frame and use PE equipment.
Parents and carers can support their children’s learning at home through reading with them every day, helping them to develop their writing skills and by practicing counting and recognising numbers when out and about in the community. To promote physical development and wellness, challenge your child to take part in an outdoor activity such as star jumps, skipping rope or cycling, in your local green space. If you would like to discuss more about how you can help your child at home, please see your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support.
I look forward to another exciting term.
