Our topic this term is Ourdelves. We will be reading lots of books based on this theme.
During terms 1 and 2 we will be beginning to focus on and developing our phonetic knowledge by introducing letter-sound correspondences. This will be supported by the exploration of sounds, rhyme and music. We will also be developing our communication and language skills in preparation for writing, through oral storytelling, story re-invention and roleplay. The core texts for this term have been specially selected in order to support these skills.
In Mathematics, we will be exploring our knowledge of numbers to 10, by counting out objects accurately with 1:1 correspondence and matching numerals to sets of objects. We will also be ordering numbers to 10.
In PE we will be focusing on how to move safely around a space.
Parents and carers can support their children’s learning at home through reading with them every day, helping them to develop their writing skills and by practicing counting and recognising numbers when out and about in the community. To promote physical development and wellness, challenge your child to take part in an outdoor activity such as star jumps, skipping rope or cycling, in your local green space. If you would like to discuss more about how you can help your child at home, please see your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support.
